About Caracas

Caracas covers an area of 745.2 sq. miles (1930 square Km) and is estimated to have a population of 3.5 million people being the capital and largest city of Venezuela. It is located in the north of the country on the Venezuelan coastal mountain range (Cordillera de la Costa).

Museums

m1.jpgThis oval-shaped modern building, which was opened in 1997, never ceases to grab the attention of drivers and passers-by. The building has 2,406 square meters of space and boasts four floors. It was named after the internationally renowned Venezuelan designer, Carlos Cruz Díez. Although the art collection is not yet complete, the museum’s study, conservation and promotion of both national and international artists, is ever increasing. The museum’s opening exhibition was dedicated to phases in Cruz Díez’s creative development, whose work can be admired at the Simón Bolívar International Airport, and various other public spaces in the capital.
