About Caracas

Caracas covers an area of 745.2 sq. miles (1930 square Km) and is estimated to have a population of 3.5 million people being the capital and largest city of Venezuela. It is located in the north of the country on the Venezuelan coastal mountain range (Cordillera de la Costa).

Maute Grill

r4.jpgThe gastronomical Tower of Babel that is Las Mercedes is host to a range of highly significant grilled meat establishments. El Maute Grill occupies an old city house that is reminiscent of the countryside. Here they call a bullock in its prime for grilling a ‘maute.’ The meat on offer here is not particularly young, but it is treated with as much care and attention as when it was reared. There is a wide range of options, including steak, rump, loin, loin of pork, sausages, baked or fried yucca, tamale (boiled corn balls wrapped in maize husks), fried maize cakes, cheeses, creams and a wide range of salads and desserts. Out of tradition, beer or soft drinks are the choice of drinks with such a sumptuous menu. Live music is performed every day from 4p onwards.
